Dear Diary,
I disagree with a famous quote from the movie Love Story... "Love means
never having to say you're sorry." I mean it sounds great and romantic,
but for me, an "I'm sorry" goes a long way. We all make mistakes,
saying something we didn't mean or regret. Apologizing begins the
healing process. A sincere apology shows effort in your relationship and
shows the person you care. Whether it's something big or small... it's important to recognize and self reflect. An apology
opens the door to forgiveness and allows you to have empathy. It's such
a beautiful gesture in any relationship to show humility and
understanding. When offered with integrity and timing an apology can be
a very critical moment in any relationship.
It's not
always easy, but in my relationship with Jeff we always seem to find it
in our hearts to do the right thing and be accountable for our words and
actions. What I love about our method of resolution is that we always
welcome and appreciate when the other is apologetic and vulnerable.
